Worldwide, 2 million people per year die from blood loss. Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma. These deaths have a cause that’s often overlooked - ignorance.Ignorance is what holds one back from knowing how to save a person quickly losing blood. In our PSA, we showed how ignorance can cage a person and hold them back from saving someone from bleeding to death. Everything leads back to ignorance. We uploaded the PSA to Twitter and YouTube, and through comments and retweets, we could see that the horror route we took with our video captured the audience’s attention and made them more inclined to listen and want to take action. People need to tangibly see the cage of ignorance that holds them back, and that is the path we chose with this PSA. We decided to show this through a school shooting, an event happening more and more often across America. It is a real fear in the lives of millions of students, and that is why it is so important for this to reach them. If people can overcome their ignorance, these lives could be saved, like the person shot in the video. Getting past it starts with knowledge. Knowledge of the fact that you are the help until help arrives. These are the five steps to stop the bleed.
1. Ensure your own safety
2. Call 9-1-1
3. Locate the bleeding site
4. Compress to stop bleeding
5. Provide comfort

RESPONSE
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The current PPE supply has become such a crisis that hospital workers are asking for donations for hand-sewn surgical masks. JOANN fabrics is one of the many businesses that have reached out to provide the proper supplies in making these items, but they needed your help! To see how to participate in this event, please see this link: https://www.joann.com/make-to-give-response/

Furthermore, we are offering another way to earn points by also participating in a variety of virtual service events that consist in making cards for healthcare workers to show our appreciation for their work. These brave souls cannot shelter-in-place with their loved ones or stay 6 feet away from six feet from sick patients. By putting them in the path of the virus, they are putting themselves at risk.
HHS HOSA is offering points for those who participate in these activities. To earn these points, please take a screenshot of you making these masks or your finished product of your homemade card to our Remind. Please spread this word to others!
